About

A resume builder that doesn’t charge you at the end.

FreeCVWriter is a free online resume and CV builder made by saasfa. You pick one of sixteen templates, fill in plain fields while the page sets itself beside you, and download a PDF. There is no account to create, no trial and no fee at the download.

Why it’s free

Most “free” resume builders let you write the whole thing and then charge between $10 and $30 to download it. A resume is the one document standing between someone and a paycheck, often at a moment when money is tight, so that is the part we refuse to charge for.

There is no paid tier holding anything back: every template, every AI tool and every download is free. Some pages carry space for advertising, and that is how it is meant to stay free.

How the templates are made

Each template is built as its own layout and rendered as real A4 pages in your browser. What you see in the preview is exactly what the PDF contains, with every word as selectable text.

Templates are labelled honestly. ATS-safe ones keep a single reading column under standard headings. Designed ones trade a little of that for a stronger look, and each template’s page says what the trade-off is. See the templates

How we write the guides

The guides are written and edited by the team that builds FreeCVWriter, to answer the questions people arrive with. We don’t quote statistics we can’t source, and we say plainly when something — like getting past every applicant tracking system — can’t be promised.

What happens to your information

In plain terms, for each part of the site. The privacy policy has the full detail.

Drafts in the builder
Saved in your own browser’s local storage as you type. They are not sent to our servers, and clearing your browser storage deletes them.
Downloading a PDF
The finished page is sent to our server, which renders it as a PDF and sends the file straight back. It isn’t saved.
The AI tools
What you paste or upload is sent to our server and on to Google’s Gemini API to write or read the text, and the result comes back to you. We don’t keep it. Uploaded PDFs are deleted from Google once they have been read; if a request fails part-way, Google removes the file automatically within 48 hours.
Template requests
If you request a template, the description and example you send are stored in our own database so we can review and build it. Requests are shown publicly only after review.
Analytics
Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics count visits and which tools are used. They don’t receive the contents of your CV.
